BMJ Open Access Account Submissions

BMJ is a champion of open access as a way to promote knowledge and accelerate discoveries. We place a great deal of importance on increasing the reach and use of what we publish, and we are actively reshaping the way medical research is conducted and disseminated.

BMJ open access account Author process

1

During the ScholarOne submission process, authors will be prompted to select their member affiliated institution from the ‘Open Access Membership’ box. Authors are also directed to our BMJ Author Hub, which lists BMJ’s open access members and provides information on how to obtain member discounts.

2

Upon acceptance of their article, authors are requested to obtain a code from their institutions open access team, details of which can be found on the BMJ Author Hub. https://authors.bmj.com/open-access/institutional- programme/ The code and a certified author email address are then used to verify use of the account by the journal’s editorial office. Upon verification, the article is then processed under the member account and fast tracked to production.

3 Authors will receive an email notifying them that their article has been accepted under the account funds.
