The allocation of BMJ-TAG assessments by national HTA bodies varies significantly from year to year, presenting both challenges and opportunities. In 2022, BMJ-TAG had the opportunity to work on multiple assessments focusing on drugs targeting conditions that impact a considerable number of patients. Although these drugs were categorised as “me-too” drugs, meaning they were similar to existing drugs already available on the NHS, this provided an important avenue for evaluating their potential benefits and value for patients. BMJ-TAG conducts research for the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and other policy makers in the UK to support national decision making and improve health outcomes. 30.
