As a funder, this can assist with evaluating funding strategies and identifying which grants have the most significant real-world impact to help make informed decisions about future grant applications and allocation of resources. As a university or researcher, it allows users to comply with reporting requirements and provide accurate information on the impact of research conducted under specific grants to funders. Analyzing the real-world impact of research across different grant numbers can allow users to identify best practices and successful strategies that can be replicated in future research projects to maximize impact.
Global coverage of clinical guidance sources BMJ Impact Analytics is the most comprehensive database of trustworthy citation evidence from clinical guidance documents. Our coverage of clinical guideline sources covers national guidelines and guidelines published by key medical societies in the United States, Australia and New Zealand.
In addition to searching by identifiers such as DOIs Or ORCID ID, results for research outputs can be found by the PubMed reference number (PMID) or PMC Identifier (PMCID) assigned by the National Library of Medicine. The PMCID is also used by recipients of NIH funding to demonstrate compliance with the NIH Public Access policy. As with the DOI and ORCID searches, you can cut and paste a list of PMIDs or PMCIDs to go straight through to the results for the research outputs you are analyzing.

We have translated titles for these documents to help you on your journey to understand the true global impact of the research that you support, publish or fund.

Upcoming product enhancements
OpenAthens access Following user feedback, we will introduce federated access to BMJ Impact Analytics in 2024. This will improve the user experience for organizations using OpenAthens, as they will now be able to use these authentication methods to create an account. International Care Pathway results We will be expanding the geographical coverage of care pathways to bring in evidence of how research is used to inform patient care in many different countries.
Enhanced health policy and clinical guidance search results and filters We combined the knowledge of BMJ experts with machine learning techniques and are working on bringing even greater precision and granularity to searches. This enhancement will save time by allowing you to quickly narrow your search results to the most relevant documents influenced by your published or funded research.
