Mapping research influence from publication to policy BMJ Impact Analytics is a comprehensive tool that enables research organisations and funders to track and share the real world influence of their medical and health research by identifying where it is cited in global health policy, clinical guidelines, and regulatory documents. An essential tool for research organisations, BMJ Impact Analytics shows not only what they have published, but how their research has influenced wider decision making. The George Institute for Global Health integrated BMJ Impact Analytics into its institutional impact measurement framework to strengthen how it evidences research impact for funders, partners and policymakers. BMJ Impact Analytics revealed a substantially broader picture of policy and clinical guideline influence than the Institute's previous tracking approach. These insights subsequently played a key role in the production of The George Institute's Impact Report 56 by providing the policy and guideline citation data to create interactive maps and infographics.
