Integration toolkit How to integrate BMJ Best Practice with your EHR system
This toolkit will take you through the three EHR integration options available. Once you have decided on the best option for your trust, the BMJ team will work with you to ensure integration is straightforward. We provide support every step of the way.
We all know that the best decisions depend on the best evidence. But how do your healthcare professionals put that evidence into practice? Well, help is at hand. We offer integration with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to provide healthcare professionals with the latest evidence-based information - all within the clinical workflow. EHR integration will allow your staff to have instant access to BMJ Best Practice at the point of care.

“The electronic patient record (Rio) integration was a straightforward process for our informatics team. We are delighted to be able to give our staff easy access to the latest clinical information from BMJ Best Practice. By more closely integrating evidence-based knowledge resources into Rio, there is the potential to reduce information barriers, increase our uptake of evidence, and improve patient outcomes. ” Dr Jonathan Richardson , Chief Clinical Information Officer, Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust

Option 3
Average tech time for implementation: ~2 hours*
An embedded search widget will enable healthcare professionals to search BMJ Best Practice topics and clinical information directly from the EHR system. This gives fast access to our trusted information from within the clinical workflow. If you are interested in this option, please contact us. BMJ will provide user interface designs and simple javascript to support your IT team to embed the search widget.
‘We opted to use the BMJ search widget to integrate into one of our existing web pages as this allowed staff to add a search term directly from that web page. We chose an existing webpage that was heavily used as this made the roll out much easier. Once we received the technical information the development work took less than 1 hour to embed into the web page and make available to thousands of staff.’ Ben Scorer, Systems Development Manager at Cumbria, Northumberland Tyne and Wear
